Plantar fasciitis - heel pain

What is plantar fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of pain under the foot, especially in the heel area. Many people experience sharp, stabbing pain when they take their first steps in the morning or after prolonged periods of rest. The pain can come on gradually over time and is often worsened by activities such as walking, running or standing for long periods of time. The condition is caused by irritation or overuse of the plantar fascia, which is a strong band of connective tissue under the foot that helps to stabilize the arch of the foot.

Our offer

At our clinic, you will meet physiotherapists with experience in treating plantar fasciitis and other stress-related foot problems. We always start with a thorough examination to uncover the diagnosis and assess what has led to the stress. This can be anything from changes in activity level, poor footwear or reduced strength and mobility in the foot, calf or hip.

Among our physiotherapists, Ann-Kristin Hatlevik is the one with the most specialized expertise in the assessment and treatment of plantar fasciitis.

Treatment

The treatment is individually tailored with a focus on reducing pain, promoting healing and gradually making the foot able to withstand stress again. We often work with exercises that strengthen the foot muscles and calves, as well as mobilizing stiff joints and connective tissue. You also receive guidance on the correct load, activity management and adjustment of shoes and soles. Many people benefit greatly from manual treatment to release tension in the foot and calf. The purpose of the treatment is to gradually build up the tissue and give the body the right conditions for healing. With us, you get close follow-up, professional support and specific tools to return to everyday life with less pain and more freedom of movement.
